Ignatian Philosophy

It is part of our mission to integrate the Ignatian values into all that we do. Those values are listed below with brief descriptions of possible ways of integrating them into our programs.

Our Ignatian Goals:

Open to Growth: Being open to personal growth and new ways of knowing and experiencing the world. Athletes will learn to take responsibility for personal growth by developing loyalty, pride, integrity and commitment.

Intellectually Competent: Striving to achieve your God-given potential. Athletes will be given the opportunity to progress intellectually, exercise leadership, and excel physically in their particular sport.

Religious: Finding God in all things. This may be the one phrase that sums up Ignatian Spirituality. It invites a person to search for and find God in every circumstance of life; even when we play.

Loving: Players, coaches and parents are called upon to work together in a true spirit of sportsmanship by treating others with compassion and respect.

Promotion of Justice: Acting as "men & women for others". The SFXAA community is called to be conscious of the call to be a leader in service and to acknowledge one’s active commitment toward fostering a just society.
